Join artist/printmaker extraordinaire, Maria Lilly, for this fun adventure into the world of printmaking! Drypoint etching is a printmaking technique that is closer to drawing as opposed to carving with woodcuts and linocuts. Rembrandt, Picasso, Goya and Mary Cassatt were just a few artists that enjoyed this method. A scribe is used to draw the image onto the plate. Ink is then applied with a spatula or knife. Next, we take tarlatan or cheesecloth to wipe the ink down into the drawing. The print is then made with slightly damp paper and put through the press. Variations can be made on this process using different tools and inks. Prints can be water colored when dry. You will be hooked once you see your first print come off the press! Artists at all levels are welcome!
Please sign up early; class size is limited to 12 students.
