2025 Creative Bravos Legacy Award

The City of Albuquerque's 40th annual Creative Bravos Awards were presented in March, and New Mexico Art League was honored with the special Legacy Bravos Award this year, presented by the Department of Arts and Culture. The Creative Bravos Awards recognize "work that makes a significant impact on the lives of residents, neighborhoods, and/or communities."

Thank you to the Department of Arts & Culture, and Thank you to all the people who make the work of the Art League happen.

In 1929, fine arts professors and students at the University of New Mexico founded the New Mexico Art League; and it thus constitutes one of the oldest art organizations in the United States. The Art League has provided common ground for artists with regional, national and international recognition, such as Raymond Jonson, Ernest L. Blumenschein, Bert Phillips, Walter Ufer, Peter Hurd, Henriette Wyeth and Wilson Hurley.

The New Mexico Art League​ is about "giving access to people who would typically not have the opportunity to take an art class -- folks who always wanted to explore that part of themselves," says Executive Director Buffy Nelson.

In the Sunday, September 17 edition of the Albuquerque Journal, Wesley Pulkka writes that our exhibit "Quench: Water in the Desert "...is a knock-down, drag-out success that should quench most realist art lovers’ thirst for excellent landscapes."
