Illuminate your watercolor paintings with the magic of light. This class focuses on composition and watercolor techniques that bring light to life within a painting. Through guided exercises, we’ll explore how thoughtful composition and the strategic use of value contrast (light against dark) can create visual movement and direct the viewer’s eye along a deliberate path of light. Students will practice watercolor methods for planning and layering washes, preserving highlights, and using color temperature and texture to emphasize focal areas. The course will begin with all students painting from the same reference image, then progress to each student developing a personal composition that applies these techniques to create a luminous and compelling painting. Open to students of all skill levels and experience.
