Color exploration can be a lifelong journey but it also begins with a few simple choices. In this hands-on painting class, we’ll dive into color theory through the lens of Johannes Itten’s Seven Kinds of Color Contrast, learning how to apply these principles to both abstract and representational work. The best way to explore color is by making a few simple charts. We’ll start by creating color charts to better understand how contrast shapes visual impact. Then, using limited palettes or chosen color schemes, you’ll create your own paintings guided by both structure and intuition. Whether you’re new to color or looking to deepen your practice, this class offers a rich foundation for developing a more intentional and expressive approach to painting.
