Explore and create art reflecting emotion touched with tones of purple, through curriculum covering shadowed floral still lifes, stormy skies and sunsets. This series of classes will delve into the intricacies and depth of reflections within the landscape and still life genres. Learn the expansive capabilities of the pastel medium. effects of color, and development of atmospheric paintings. Emphasis will be on exploratory studies and demonstrations, with one-to-one assistance on refining drawing techniques. Individuality in style and expression will be highly encouraged. Albuquerque multidisciplinary artist Susan E. Roden, attended the Cleveland Institute of Art and the Houston Art Institute. Her art is exhibited nationally and she is the recipient of awards including Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club’s Award (NY) and the Yarka Award from the Salmagundi Club (NY). She attended residencies to Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park (2009) and California’s Desert Dairy Farm (2021, 2022). Roden was featured on the cover of the Pastel Artist International Magazine (2002) with an accompanied article of her technique and cited in the Southwest Art Magazine. She has taught at the University of California San Diego Extension, San Diego Museum of Art and Oasis /Albuquerque.
