The New Mexico Art League is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit association of artists and art lovers. Donations are tax-deductible and are the primary source of funding to sustain the League's core goal of providing Fine Arts instruction for New Mexico. NMAL has no paid employees, and no member of the Board receives compensation for their services on the Board. All of our active members donate their time.

Current projects

We have made major progress with the building and grounds renovations. Thanks to grants from the PNM Foundation, McCune Foundation, and Eye Associates, energy-efficient windows have been installed in the League building. We have also completed the re-stuccoing of the building.

The renovation and improvement of the League is a grassroots revival; every member of the Board and many of our artists and instructors have worked to fulfill the goals of painting walls and ceilings, rebuilding, and remodeling. Donations for the most part go to materials, not to labor—which is donated by our members. Only tasks requiring special licenses, such as plumbing and electrical have been contracted to date, and those too have been donated in part with materials provided at cost, and some or all labor costs as well.

We are in the process of obtaining grants to benefit hospitalized children with cancer and other serious diseases. It has been well documented that art making can facilitate the expression of a child's feelings about their traumatic experience and help them deal with their illness or injury. If you would like to contribute to this worthy cause, please contact Marian Berg or Chuck Lewis.

We invite you to join us in rebuilding the New Mexico Art League through your donations of cash, materials, or in-kind services.

Other opportunities to contribute

Please consider contributing a little of your time. In addition to money and materials, we need your help. It is an opportunity to be involved in any area of the League that fits your interests. Please contact us to discuss the various ways in which you could become involved.

Local contractors, services, and businesses have been generous with contributions of labor and materials, but more of these are always needed. If you own a business and wish to assist the League, please give us a call at 505-293-5034.
